ERA FEATURED ON MIXMAG WORLDS BEST CLUB LIST

"It might be one of Cape Town's youngest nightclubs, just opened in August last year, but Era's got enough quality and innovation to prove age and experience aren't always key assets.

Situated on the thriving, club-packed Loop Street in the city's central business district, Era puts as much ‘Focus on pushing the talents of up-and-comers as it does on seasoned artists who have been integral in developing the electronic scene in South Africa's Mother City.

While it played host to the Mixmag World DJ Sessions with Heidi and South African house star Culoe De Song in November 2014», most ofthe time you'll catch a bunch of Cape Town residents such as Agugio, Ian Skene and Killer Robot throwing down anything from delectable house flavours to devious techno cuts through a mega customised Funktion One soundsystem.

With a 42-metre strip of LED lights, headphone-moulded chairs and abstract bars and DJ booths, it's clear aesthetics are just as important as audio quality. And how many other venues can you name with a motion-active wall that projects graphics of your dance moves?

French producer Sebastian Leger even had so much of a laugh there he refused to leave the DJ booth, according to the owners. When he says it's the “best club in Africa”, you can't really blame him.

It's not all about clubbing, though. Tuesday to Friday's dedicated to the Era Café, appeasing your growling stomach with tasty tapas dishes and other fine cuisine. Less than a year old, Era may be in its infancy but it sure knows what it's doing."
